AFIRM Showcase Tour Announces
'Best of Industry' Speaker Lineup in Atlanta
Expert Presenter sto Provide Free Seminars
Consistent with Horizontal Nature of Event
SILVER SPRING, MD – October 26, 2010 – AFIRM, the Association of Fitness Industry Retailers & Manufacturers, announced today its “starting lineup” of educational seminars at the inaugural AFIRM Showcase Tour event February 3-4, 2011 at the Sheraton Gateway Airport Hotel in Atlanta, GA.
AFIRM will be offering a “who’s who” of industry veterans speaking on a wide range of topics consistent with its philosophy of creating a “horizontal event built on vertical pillars.”
While the full roster of presenters is not yet finalized, the following headliners have agreed to speak in Atlanta, on the following themes:
-
Dave Pickering – HR and the Corporate Market
-
Dr. Jason Conviser – Exercise Is Medicine
-
Sandy Coffman – Accessing the Active Aging Market
-
Dan Lynch – Technology in Medically Integrated Wellness
-
Paul Bosley – Financing Equipment Purchases
-
Michael Scott Scudder –How to Compete in Today’s Economy
-
Donna Krech – The Business of Growing Your Business
-
Doug Miller – Back to the Fitness Future
“We are proud and exited to have this stellar group of presenters speak on our behalf in Atlanta,” said AFIRM Executive Director Chuck Leve. “This is an all-star lineup that you normally can’t access collectively outside of the big national conferences.
“Our educational component is designed to bring the best international speakers to parts of the country where research indicates people are not generally attending the big national shows,” he added. “And unlike the large conventions, there will be no fee for attendees in Atlanta.”
The speakers listed above have collectively spoken over 200 times at Athletic Business, IHRSA, and/or Club Industry, the leading events in fitness. And consistent with the theme of the AFIRM Showcase Tour, the subject matter crosses a wide variety of facility types.
“This isn’t about one facility type or another,” said Bosley. “It’s about fitness. My presentation, and I suspect the presentations of my faculty colleagues, will focus on the broad commonality. Our attendees will be able to apply the lessons to their specific facility type.”
Such focus is consistent with AFIRM’s “Horizontal Event Built on Vertical Markets,” philosophy, which means that AFIRM’s constituents – industry suppliers – are the common denominator across all market segments.
The Atlanta event, as with all AFIRM events, will encourage “drive-in” attendance from a regional base, targeting thousands of fitness industry owners, operators, developers, and professionals who are not currently attending national shows.
The
AFIRM Showcase Tour events in 2011 include late June in the Washington, D.C./Baltimore, corridor and late October in Dallas, TX. The venues in 2012 include Seattle, WA; Kansas City, MO; Hartford, CT; and Columbus, OH.
