News Release Don’t Miss March 30 Public Policy Conference CallTopics to Include PEP, PHIT, Product Safety and Trade Policy 3 More Companies Join AFIRM SILVER SPRING, MD – March 25, 2010 – With fitness-related public policy issues center stage as a result of SGMA’s National Health Through Fitness (NHTF) Day earlier this month – AFIRM has announced a March 30 (1:00 p.m. Eastern) conference call to update the fitness industry on the key DC legislative initiatives affecting their business. The AFIRM Public Policy Conference Call will be hosted by Tom Cove, SGMA CEO, and Bill Sells, SGMA Vice President for Public Policy. The agenda currently includes a recap of NHTF Day, funding for PEP (Physical Education Program), likelihood of passage of the PHIT (Personal Health Incentive Today) Act, and concerns relative to a tough new currency bill directed toward China that has recently been introduced in Congress. In addition, a recent report published by the Consumer Products Safety Commission could be interpreted as “storm clouds gathering” in terms of fitness equipment as a cause of injury or death. While our initial analysis of the report indicates our industry is exposed but not necessarily at risk, this issue bears continued vigilance due to the unpredictability of both the legislative and executive branches of government. This first AFIRM Conference Call will be open to members and non-members of AFIRM to maximize the opportunity for all fitness suppliers to participate in this critically important area of business that casts an ever-present shadow of potential governmental intervention. “We’re looking for a strong participation level on March 30,” said AFIRM executive director Chuck Leve. “These are important issues that directly affect the profitability of manufacturers in our industry.” To register for the free AFIRM Public Policy Conference Call, click https://www.sgma.com/calendar/54_AFIRM-CONFERENCE-CALL---How-Does-Policy-Making-in-Washington-Affect-My-Business More News From AFIRM… Zoom Media, SFIC Insurance, Pavigym America Join AFIRMSILVER SPRING, MD – March 25, 2010 – AFIRM announced today the membership commitments of three additional companies, all in different product categories:
